Land Acknowledgement
At The Bramble Patch Preschool, we are deeply committed to providing comprehensive and enriching early childhood education experiences for children in Haliburton County, Ontario, Canada.
Inspired by our multifaceted approach to early childhood education, which draws from various educational philosophies and developmental theories, we recognize the importance of acknowledging the land and its Indigenous peoples.
In alignment with our values of inclusivity, empathy, and respect, we acknowledge that we are on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe and Haudenosaunee peoples. We honour their enduring connection to this land and the wisdom they have shared in stewarding it for generations.
We also acknowledge the profound impact of the stolen education system, including the legacy of residential schools, which sought to assimilate Indigenous children and eradicate their cultures and languages.
We recognize the intergenerational trauma caused by these injustices and honour the resilience of Indigenous peoples in reclaiming their identities and histories.
In our commitment to truth and reconciliation, we strive to create a safe and inclusive space where the voices and experiences of Indigenous children and families are valued and respected.
Our curriculum seeks to promote understanding, empathy, and reconciliation, fostering meaningful connections with Indigenous cultures and perspectives.
Furthermore, we commit to actively supporting Indigenous communities and advancing reconciliation efforts through ongoing education, partnerships, and initiatives within our childcare program and the broader community.
By acknowledging the land and the stolen education and its ongoing effects, we commit to learning from the past, listening to Indigenous voices, and working towards a future built on mutual respect, equity, and justice for all.
